Steve M. Cohen, Ed. D., CMC

Steve M. Cohen, a partner and president of Labor Management Advisory Group, Inc. (LMAG), specializes in human resources management and consulting. Specifically, he acts as the human resources officer for organizations that do not have designated full-time HR staff, or he acts as "bench strength" for completed mediation assignments, executive search assignments, conducted audits and prevention-oriented training in the areas of sexual harassment, the ADA, and EEOC in general. He has published articles on the topics relating to management, sexual harassment prevention, the need for diversity in the workplace, employee training, and motivation.

Additionally, Dr. Cohen has evaluated and developed human resource systems, policy and procedure manuals, conducted EEOC related investigations, Title VII prevention training and consulting, and post-allegation workouts. He has developed selection and recruiting systems, wage and salary systems, classification systems, performance appraisal programs, employee recognition programs, orientation programs, and on-going communications systems. Dr. Cohen has assisted many organizations resolve employee conflicts. His consulting experience covers associations, banking, governmental, health care, manufacturing and service settings. Skilled in all phases of training, his experience includes curriculum development, platform presentations and program evaluations. He has designed and presented courses for more than 20 years in a full variety of settings. His publications include management and personnel related articles in Contemporary Administrator magazine, School Bus Fleet magazine, Retirement Housing Report, and over one dozen association newsletters, including the American Society for Training and Development.

, private management consulting practice. Scope of consulting services: EEOC and ADA preventive training, EEOC investigations and workouts, management training in problem solving, and human resource skills building.

1992 - 1994 Vice President, International Action Company,
human resource training and consulting subsidiary of IAC Group.

1989 - 1992 President, Cohen and Associates, independent private management consulting practice.

1987 - 1989 Vice President of Development for Retirement Centers of America, Inc. Responsibilities included: Complete development process associated with a continuing care retirement center. Board of directors recruitment and liaison activities once the governance was in place; ongoing project management; interaction with construction, finance, marketing and management departments.

1986 - 1989 Vice President of Human Resources, Retirement Centers of America, Inc. Responsibilities included: Benefits administration, wage and salary administration, and implementation of general personnel policies corporate-wide.

1985 - 1987 Vice President, Rental Retirement Housing for National Housing Partnership, Washington, D.C. Responsibilities included: Organization, coordination and implementation of all management activities regarding luxury elderly congregation housing projects on a nationwide basis.

1984 - 1985 Director of Human Resources, Santa Fe Healthcare Systems, Inc. Responsibilities included: All corporate training and personnel management, personnel accounting, career development, labor relations, manpower management and position utilization. Provided liaison services for five hospitals and eleven health-related businesses and eight active boards.

1977 - 1984 Nursing Home Administrator, DeKalb County Nursing Home (public setting) and University Nursing Care Center and Regency Oaks Nursing Centers (private settings).
Responsibilities in all instances included: Implementation of policies and management of an excess of 150 employees and budgets over $4 million.

1973 - 1977 Evening/Night Administrative Manager, Baptist Memorial Hospital, a 400 bed acute care hospital. Responsibilities included: Management of the nursing, housekeeping, laundry, security, and dietary departments as well as oversight of the operation of the emergency room.
